Professional Ethics for Engineers and Scientists

Ethics are Essential in Engineering and Science

The word ethics can be defined to be "a principle of right and good behavior" or a system of moral principles or values. Essentially, professional ethics means you do the right thing because it is the right thing to do. You report bad results even though they will be unpopular to hear. You report that your company's actions caused the failure of a part when that is what the information says. You do not take credit for others' work. There are hundreds of ways to give examples of ethical behavior, but it all comes down to doing the right thing at the right time because it is simply the correct thing to do.
